Employment Services at Heartstrings
Heartstrings Community Foundation (HCF®) is a licensed HCBS Day Service provider in Kansas, proudly serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities on the I/DD waiver. Through our innovative Employment Services, our employees engage in real-world work experiences via three signature business enterprises:
Goody Delivery® – a mobile snack delivery service
Sacks on Santa Fe – a resale boutique in Downtown Overland Park
HeArtfully Made – an inclusive art and craft production studio
Our employees earn hourly wages based on their contributions while learning transferable job skills, building confidence, and developing independence.
What We Offer
At HCF®, our program is designed for those who want to work and be active members of their community. A typical day spans 5½ hours, with our employees rotating through job roles every 30–50 minutes. This fast-paced model supports engagement, skill development, and focus.
We are in the community 80–90% of the time, and our team leaders are trained in job coaching and follow-along support to promote long-term employment success both within and beyond HCF®.
Our employees gain valuable job experience through several unique business ventures:
Goody Delivery® – Mobile snack service visiting 50+ local businesses
Sacks on Santa Fe – Resale boutique in Downtown Overland Park
HeArtfully Made – Art-based production program
Cleaning Crews – On-site and off-site janitorial teams
Meals on Wheels – Community service opportunity
Employees work in small groups (3 to 4 employees), supported by trained staff, and spend most of their day out in the community.
In addition to employment, HCF® promotes:
Healthy lifestyle choices
Community involvement, including partnerships like Meals on Wheels
A strong focus on workforce development through hands-on, supported training
Our goal is for each individual to shine in the broader workforce—often independently—with confidence and pride.
