Heartstrings is excited to welcome a new staff member, Joe Wilson, as our new Team Leader. He’s a Direct Support Professional with the duties of training, coaching, and assisting employees in an effort to develop their skills and promote independence through successful employment.
4 things to know about Joe:
- Q: What is your favorite movie? Christmas Vacation
2. Q: What do you do for fun outside of work? Competitive grilling/smoking, golfing, fishing, and spending time with my wife and kids.
3. Q: What do you love about nonprofits? I started out as a paraprofessional in education because I wanted to help people and make a difference in my community. Over the course of my career I have worked in a variety of positions, but never at a non-profit before. When I heard about the opportunity at Heartstrings I did some research on the organization and became very excited about the work that is being done here. Individuals with disabilities are often not visible in the community, and I love the emphasis on creating opportunities for our employees to go to local businesses and interact with the customers they serve. I had no idea that this is where I was going to end up, but I feel like God has called me to be here, and I look forward to being an encouraging and supportive Team Leader that helps our employees to become successful through independent employment.
4. Q: What are you most excited about working on at Heartstrings? The people- the ability to help and to give back to our employees, it makes me feel really good to be able to make a difference in their lives.
